Busker Street Union (BSU) is a Creative Placemaking program that aims to support street performers with gigs, identify the best locations around the world that reap the best income, offer safety guidelines and reform legislation to protect and serve street performers everywhere.

We reactivate street spaces. We engage community members through performance.  We do research by collecting busking guidelines around the world and we map the safe places to play. The mapping allows us to identify spaces that are protected Free Speech, allowing others to use the spaces as a venue for activism.

If you are looking for a safe place to play, join the union and sign up here. You’ll get tips on the best places to play and friendly business owners looking to stir up a crowd.

If you are a business owner, sign up here too. We’ll supply you with some good entertainment. The Busker Street Union will be offering public performance options throughout southwestern Pennsylvania.

Don’t forget to collect your Union badge, which gives you rights and protections as a street performer. And if you are a business pick up your window cling that supports busking in Pittsburgh. BSU is a partner with BuskPGH, the initiative launched by Pittsburgh downtown community development corporation, and is also collaborating with the Pittsburgh Fringe.

Busker Street Union is the revival of Busk:Pittsburgh, once supported by the Sprout Fund and incubated by GroundZero Action Network Project, now an initiative of Shift Collaborative.
